Spiritual Practices
We believe that the following will help grow our spirituality in the Episcopal tradition and make us more effective followers of Jesus Christ
• Weekly Eucharist.
We celebrate communion with God as we participate in the Lord's Supper. We recommend that one attend Eucharist as frequently as possible and usually not less than once each week.
• Daily Prayers of the Church.
This is known as the Daily Office or "fixed-hour prayer" of Daily prayer and Bible reading.
• Reflection
Daily periods of personal meditation and stillness; resting in the presence of God. We seek to see the Presence of Jesus in all people. We recommend Centering Prayer or Lectio Divina. We recomend Brother Lawrence in Practicing the Presence of God and the Welcoming Prayer
• Community.
Our church provides opportunities for social life among parishioners and creates an environment in which they may find and live what Augustine called a “real life,” a life in which they might be genuine, be open and honest about themselves, and still be in deep relationship with others and God. This is a community where our differences can be expressed and will be accepted; in which we can fight with those we love without fearing the loss of the relationship.
• Service.
The primary place, the most effective place, of service for the Christian is in his or her daily life. We serve within our friendships, families, work, and civic life. Our church can help members identify how they serve, how they may better serve, and the gifts each brings to that task. This is a call to a wise and generous love.
